Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and monitor Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) across the formulation plant
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment), and JSA (Job Safety Analysis) for plant operations
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements under Factories Act, Environment Protection Act, Hazardous Waste Rules, and other applicable pharma regulatory bodies (CPCB/GPCB)
• Manage effluent treatment plant (ETP), sewage treatment plant (STP), and solid/hazardous waste disposal as per consent conditions
• Monitor and ensure compliance with air emissions, stack monitoring, ambient air quality, and noise level standards
• Conduct training programs on safety, PPE usage, emergency preparedness, fire safety, and chemical handling for employees and contractors
• Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents; prepare root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
• Maintain documentation for consent to operate (CTO), consent to establish (CTE), and renewal applications with pollution control boards
• Coordinate fire safety systems, mock drills, and emergency response plans
• Monitor occupational health programs including periodic medical examinations, exposure monitoring, and industrial hygiene
• Manage permit-to-work systems for hazardous activities (hot work, confined space, working at height, electrical isolation)
• Track and report EHS KPIs/metrics to management (LTIFR, near-miss reporting, waste generation data, etc.)
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and certification bodies for inspections and audits

Qualifications:

• B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• Diploma/PG Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory, as per state Factory Rules)
• Additional certifications in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, NEBOSH (preferred)

Experience:

• 5-7 years of relevant EHS experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical formulation or API manufacturing plant
• Hands-on experience with ETP/STP operations, hazardous waste management, and statutory compliance
• Prior exposure to fire safety systems, PTW systems, and safety audits in a regulated manufacturing environment

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of applicable EHS legislation (Factories Act, Environment Protection Act, Hazardous & Other Wastes Management Rules)
• Working knowledge of GMP requirements as they intersect with EHS (e.g., handling of solvents, APIs, cleanroom safety)
• Good analytical, documentation, and reporting skills
• Effective communication and training delivery skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and EHS management software/tools
• Ability to work cross-functionally with production, QA, and engineering teams
