Job Summary
The Architect – Execution (Stone Temple Projects) will be responsible for translating traditional temple architectural designs into precise on-site execution. The role ensures structural integrity, aesthetic accuracy, and adherence to Shilpa Shastra principles while meeting modern construction and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Temple Architecture Execution
Execute stone temple drawings including shikhara, mandap, garbhagriha, and prakar.
Ensure correct alignment, proportions, and detailing as per Shilpa Shastra / Vastu Shastra and approved drawings.
Monitor installation of carved stone elements such as columns, beams, domes, and idols.
2. Stone & Carving Coordination
Coordinate with stone quarries, stone carving workshops, and temple sthapatis & shilpis.
Verify carving drawings, motifs, deity proportions, and jointing details prior to execution.
3. Drawings & Technical Control
Review, approve, and issue stone setting drawings.
Prepare and manage numbering, placement drawings, elevations, and sectional details.
Ensure carving and erection activities strictly follow approved shop drawings.
4. Site Execution & Quality Control
Supervise stone erection, interlocking, and dry stone assembly methods.
Monitor use of adhesives, dowels, anchoring systems, and structural connections.
Ensure no deviation from heritage standards or structural safety requirements.
5. Heritage & Cultural Compliance
Ensure temple construction aligns with traditional Hindu temple architecture principles.
Adhere to ritualistic, spiritual, and cultural requirements during execution.
Coordinate with priests and religious advisors for sanctum layouts and processional paths.
6. Project Coordination
Work closely with civil contractors, structural engineers, carving vendors, and temple management teams.
Resolve site-level design, execution, and coordination issues effectively.
7. Finishes & Sanctity Control
Approve stone textures, carving finishes, polishing, and aging treatments.
Maintain the sanctity, authenticity, and aesthetic integrity of temple architecture.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (B.Arch).
Specialized training or experience in heritage, temple, or stone architecture preferred.
Experience :
5–12 years of experience in stone temple projects, heritage structures, or monumental stone architecture.
Technical Skills
AutoCAD proficiency
Stone detailing and shop drawings
Understanding of load-bearing stone structures
Knowledge of carving, jointing, and stone erection techniques
Soft Skills
High attention to detail
Strong respect for religious and cultural practices
Ability to coordinate artisans, consultants, and engineers
Confident on-site decision-making and problem-solving
